Flying Star Update 2018
2018 begins on February 4, according to the Chinese Solar Calendar (the typical Chinese New Year is determined by the Lunar calendar). In keeping with the cycles of the universe, the Annual Stars for this year will move around the Lo Shu, creating new energy patterns as they interface with the resident elements of the Lo Shu and the Prevailing energy. On a deeper level, the Annual energy interfaces with the energy that was captured in a building based on time and orientation, as well as that of the inhabitants. However, this analysis will only deal with the universal energy that is known to be in every environment…from macro to micro…throughout the globe. Keep in mind that any recommendations for elemental interventions may not reflect the specific energy of your space. This analysis is only meant as a global assessment.
Last month I gave you an overview of the Annual Afflictions in this article. In this article, I’ll analyze the rest of the Ch’i or life force energy, referred to in Feng Shui as the Flying Stars. Like radio “waves,” Ch’i is not visible but is nonetheless measurable. In the world of science, everything in the universe is measured by vibrations and frequencies. Ch’i is merely a term that refers to the characteristics or life force everything within the realm of universal energy. The ancient Chinese developed a language for these energies over thousands of years of observation and recording. While the terms themselves may sound mystical, it’s merely a shorthand reference to the characteristics of specific energetic patterns. It’s a complex, multi-dimensional and multi-layered system that correlates directly with modern scientific theory, specifically Quantum Theory/Mechanics.
The Lo Shu for 2018
The pervasive annual energy is determined by the Center Lo Shu square or Palace. This year, the 9 Purple inhabits the center. Its element is fire and its character is that of joy and happiness. It also enhances the energy of the other elements with which it comes into contact. The native element here is an unfavorable earth…but the prevailing energy of the current 20-year cycle (a benevolent earth) softens the overall energy. In pure terms, this combination is a productive cycle, unlike the clash of water and earth in 2017. The 9 Star is also “emerging” in its strength, which further supports earth energy and may create ups and downs in earth-related professions and economies. The Earth Dog’s energy will also be enhanced by this emerging fire energy. The Dog characteristics of loyalty and support bode well, a stark difference to last year’s strutting Fire Rooster!
The Southeast Palace will host the 8 White Star, with the energy of abundance. While this star is enhanced by the same prevailing star, the element of the Southeast is wood, which will be in a clash with the earth star, which can have a muting effect on the abundance of the annual energy. If this is the bedroom of the eldest daughter it might be prudent to include a little fire or earth here to further support her.
The South Palace hosts the 4 Wood element known as “peach blossom” which supports creativity, academic achievement, and unconditional love. If your bedroom or that of the middle daughter is here, add moving water to enhance the peach blossom and quelch the native fire element, which erodes the favorable energy of the visiting wood.
The Southwest Palace hosts the 6 White star, the element of fame and fortune. The native element of the Southwest is earth. Along with the prevailing earth energy, this will support the potential of the 6 Star! This Palace is also specific to the Wife/Mother/Eldest Female in the home…or the female owner of a business. If you’re one of these and your bedroom or office is in the SW, this could be very good for you!
The West Palace hosts the unfavorable 2 Black star, the element that characterizes illness. The native element of the West Palace is metal which will erode the visiting Earth star but it’s advisable to add more metal in this Palace, especially if it’s the bedroom of the youngest daughter. There should be no construction or digging in this area, nor construction of a building sitting or facing this direction.
The Northwest Palace hosts the 1 White star, water element of wealth, fame, and fortune. The native element of the Northwest Palace is metal, which is supportive of the visiting water star, making it more powerful. This is an especially good area for the father/elder male to spend time or for the main entrance to the home/office.
The North Palace hosts the 5 Yellow star, earth element of disaster. The North Palace is also host to the San Sha this year. The native element here is water, which will be in a clash with the earth element, bringing about yet more unrest. This is an area that’s best left undisturbed this year. Absolutely NO construction or digging here this year. If this is the location of the main entrance, it’s better to use an alternate entry to the building. If this falls into a “wet” room such as a bathroom or laundry, you are fortunate, since it will drain the energy. If this is in a bedroom and you can’t move to another room, it’s advisable to take ample precautions, including mitigating the energy with plenty of metal to offset the unfavorable earth excess. Moving metal is also recommended (such as a metal clock or pendulum clock). In addition to the metal adjustment, I also recommend live plants if you must occupy this area. Avoid louse noises, use of electronics, and take precautions for your health and wellbeing. This Palace is associated with the middle son/middle-aged man so it’s advisable for someone who fits this description to avoid using this area.
The Northeast Palace hosts the 3 Green star, wood element. The native element here is earth, which will be in a clash with the wood. The nature of the 3 Green star has the potential for arguments, slander, and lawsuits. To resolve the energetic clash and support the benevolent earth, add a fire element such as a red accessory or piece of art. This area is associated with the youngest son/male, so if this is a bedroom or office of the youngest male, there are benefits to be gained from adjusting this area with fire to support the 8 Earth which has the potential for wealth accumulation.
The East Palace hosts the 7 Red star, a metal element which has potential for accidents, robbery, and disputes. The native element here is 3 Wood, which not only is in a clash with the metal but is in itself not a supportive element. Mitigate the effects of both of these unfavorable elements and neutralize the palace with a fire element such as a red accessory. This area is associated with the eldest son/male so be especially mindful if he occupies this area.
Overall, avoid any construction in the West, Northwest, North, and Southeast this year. If you have no other choice, hang a large metal wind chime between the house and the construction/digging site. The exception to this is in the North, where there should be NO construction or digging this year to avoid activating the unfavorable energy there. Also avoid loud noises such as slamming doors, loud music, TV and other excess activity in these areas.
As mentioned before, these are only 2 of the 6 elements that are analyzed in a complete personalized audit. If you want to schedule an appointment in January to prepare you for the Year of the Yang Earth Dog, you can submit via the “Contact” form or email me.
